For Thanksgiving this year my family was all really scattered and it seemed like everyone had their own plans and so we had Thanksgiving at home. We had some of Owens siblings here and just had a cozy day at home! It was a first for me to make turkey and some more of the Thanksgiving festivities 🙂 I also tried my hand at making Apple Pie for the first time in my life! I have already made Creme Pies etc but this was a first for actually making a Pie crust and baking a pie! It went really well PTL.
Since i never made a Pie Crust before i was looking for one on the Internet and came across this blog that had a video on how to make it and everything 🙂 So I was all set to go 🙂 Here is a link to the blog for the Pie Crust,
This recipe actually was enough for two pie crusts for me, however i have fairly small Pie pans so it will depend what size pan you are using. Here is a picture of her finished Pie Crust.
Heres the recipe:
Shoestring Apple Pie
1 c. sugar
2 Tblspoon flour
1 c. milk (its better to use a 1/2 c. cream and 1/2 c. milk) but I didn’t have cream so it works fine to use all milk 😉
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. shredded apples
Directions: Do NOT bake the crust before putting the filling in. Put apples in bottom of crust then mix other ingredients together in a medium size mixing bowl and pour over apples. Sprinkle top with Cinnamon.
Bake at 425* for 10 minutes then turn oven to 350* and bake till done, approx 35- 45 minutes.. When you shake the pie you don’t want the filling to be really runny yet,, maybe just a lil bit ‘wobbly’ yet lol.
