New Years *2012*

Well its great to be home again after a lengthy trip to Tennessee! Our Christmas this year turned out very different then we had planned it, but we know God has a reason for everything that happens and we are glad we can trust in Him at times like this!
When we left for Tennessee on Wednesday the 21st of December we had plans of staying till the following Monday (the 26th). When we were about halfways there we got the call that they are taking Pop to the hospital again as he is not feeling good. This didn’t alarm us too much as he has been going to the hospital fairly often the last while and always pulls thru and goes beyond what the Drs expect. But this time it was not to be that way. Mom called from the hospital Thurs morning saying his kidneys are shutting down and there is nothing that can be done for him except keep him comfortable and it will only be a matter of a few days and weeks at the very most.
So we headed down to visit him in the hospital on Thursday and Friday. He could whisper some but it was very labored and hard to understand. Also seemed very tired and worn out. On Saturday morning we got the call that he is no longer responding and Dr. said he pry wont live thru the day. The whole family went down to the hospital and we were all in the room (except one of the daughters) when he passed away at 2:55 pm on December 24th, 2011. That was a new experience for me and definitely nothing that you’ll ever get used to! The viewing and visitation was on Tuesday afternoon and evening, and funeral on Wednesday.
Death is so final and out of our control! Makes me realize the importance of spending every living moment we have to the glory of God and doing things that make a difference in the lives of the people we are with and take for-granted so easily!! One of my New Years Resolutions is to just be more aware of the people I am blessed to have in my life and make every moment count that i have with them and to never take them for-granted, they are a gift from God!
We ended up staying a week longer then we had planned so we arrived home last night, the 1st of January! Its really good to be home!
Have a very blessed 2012 and make each moment count!
