If I told you that you can make Homemade Cinnamon Rolls in a matter of 2-3 hours and that they would be ‘awesome’ and ‘simple’ and ‘delicious’, would you be interested?!
Well that’s right, that’s just what I am about to tell you 🙂 This is the first time I ever made them (after watching my mom make them for many years) and it was just as simple as watching her make them, and I sent her a picture after they were done baking and she said they looked just like hers **happy sigh**
I have detailed instructions attached to make it easy for you to make them 🙂 If you have any questions about it be sure to ask in the comments and I will try my best to help you. Lucky for me I could call 1-800-askmom if I had a question 😉
First mix the following ingredients in the bosch mixer:
5 1/4 c hot water
1/2 c sugar
1 teas salt
1/2 c oil
2 beaten eggs
Then add 10 c Raised A donut mix & 4 Tblsp instant yeast. Mix until well blended then add 4 c reg flour & at least 3 c additional donut mix ( possibly more). Let mix for 10 min. Put in greased bowl & let rise until doubled in size. (approx 45 minutes)
Preheat oven to 400*
Now divide dough into 3 equal pieces.
One by one roll out dough into a rectangular shape (shown below) on well floured surface.
Melt 4 T butter
Spread a thin layer of melted butter onto dough, then sprinkle a thin layer of white sugar on top of that, and now a thick layer of cinnamon on top of that 🙂
Start at the wide edge of the dough and roll it together tightly. Once you get to the other side pinch the ends together so they don’t fall apart when you start slicing them.
Now take your sharp knife and simple slice them in about 1 – 1 1/2” slices.
Put in a well greased pan of your choice, (I used these round ones but you can use pretty much anything that is oven safe) Using your palm push the center of the dough down slightly after putting it in the pan. This makes for more evenly sized rolls.
As you can see here, its okay to have some empty space in the pan when you are putting the slices in. I let it rise again for about 15 minutes then put it in the oven and baked at 400 for 10 minutes or until it was the desired golden brown at the top that I wanted!
Melt 2 sticks butter in a medium sized pot over high heat, add 2 c brown sugar and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes stirring constantly. Quickly add 1/2 c milk and heat just a bit.
Set in cold water and beat in 4 cups powdered sugar. Let cool and spread on rolls! I normally just spread it on the rolls as I am ready to eat them so they don’t get soggy!
Cinnamon Rolls w/ Caramel Icing
Delicious soft Cinnamon Rolls with Caramel Icing. Melt in your mouth :)
- 5 1/4 c hot water
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1 teas salt
- 1/2 c oil
- 2 beaten eggs
- 13-14 c Raised A Donut mix
- 4 T Instant yeast
- 4 c flour
- 2 sticks butter
- 2 c brown sugar
- 1/2 c milk
- 4 c powdered sugar
- Put first five ingredients in bosch mixer.
- Add about 10 cups donut mix and yeast and mix well.
- Add flour and rest of the donut mix and mix well for 10 minutes
- You may have to add a little more flour, you want the dough to be a little sticky but still able to work with it with your hands so it doesn't just stick to your hands.
- Put in a greased bowl and let rise until doubled in size. Approx 45 minutes.
- Now divide dough into 3 equal pieces.
- Roll each pieceof dough into a rectangular shape on a well floured surface. It should be about 1/2'' thick.
- Melt 4 T butter
- Put a thin layer of butter on pieces of dough that are rolled out.
- Now put a thin layer of white sugar over the butter.
- And now a thick layer of cinnamon on top of the sugar.
- Start on the wide edge and roll dough tightly together. Once you get to the other edge simply pinch the edges together so it stays closed.
- Slice into 1 to 1 1/2'' pieces and place into well greased pan.
- Let rise for about 15 minutes again
- Bake at 400 for 10 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- Let cool and enjoy :)
- Melt butter, add sugar and bring to boil. Let boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add milk and heat just a little bit.
- Put in cold water and beat in powdered sugar. Let cool and then refrigerate until ready to use.
- I normally only frost the rolls that we are ready to eat at the moment to avoid them getting soggy!
